SUPER CUP RESULTS ARE IN...
and there are some absolute crackers!
Zoom
The penultimate week of Super Cup games and with groups nearing completion it is shaping up to be a great bunch of matches in the quarter finals.
Group A saw on form Recreativo beat Walthamstow Eagles 6-2 with 4 goals from Liam Greenaway who is proving a goal machine this year. Barking Mad managed to peg back a 3-1 deficit to get a possible quarter final clinching draw, totally against the run of play and finish the game 3-3. However will their the first 2 penalty misses in the shoot-out cost them that qtr final place. Sounds like it was a cracking game. Final games next weekend
Group B was also full of goals, 9 in total. A 3-0 walkover win for Rio Kaiserautern meant they have rejuvinated their chances of qualification to the next round. At the top of the group, The Llamas win 4-2 helped them close in on a spot too. They will face Rio next weekend both teams needing points to qualify. It is still wide open to who will qualify Llamas and Sandmere both have 6pts, Rio and Clapham Alex have 4pts... with them Llamas v Rio and Sandmere v Clapham next weekend.
Group C completed their matches last weekend with 2010/11 league champions Jeff's Chippy going to play The Pigeons, the championship side who are unbeaten in the group and they remained that way, rubbing salt (and vinegar) in the wounds of their opponents by beating them 3-0.
The other unbeaten side in the group Project Clapham who are unbeaten this season and sitting at the top of the Championship played against group strugglers Sloane FC whose league form didn't translate to the Super Cup format. However after a close game, with penalty shouts galore, saw Sloane beat Project Clapham 1-0. This was the first game Project they have ever lost on a Sunday having won the league undefeated in 2009/10
Group D only featured one game with SS Ladzio taking victory from Livingstone 3-2. The group sees SWAG v Shep Tues next weekend. Looking at the Championship table you can only see it going one way, but this is the Super Cup so perhaps Shepherds Tuesday could get their 2nd win of the season and perhaps even qualify!
The CLSSL Super Cup is more exciting then the UEFA Champions League... end of.
